PODCAST CLIP MAKER
A podcast clip maker with captions, free and without a watermark
Paste an episode link or upload the file. You pick the exact moment. FastClip burns in word-timed captions and crops to vertical 9:16 while following the speaker.
Free, no credit card, no watermark. Works in mobile and desktop browsers.
How to make a captioned podcast clip
1. Add the episode
Paste the episode’s YouTube link, upload a video file, or upload an audio file (up to 5 GB a file). FastClip keeps it in your library, so you can cut as many clips from it as you need.
2. Pick the exact moment
Take a suggested moment, select the exact words in the transcript, or type the start and end times. Start the clip on a full sentence.
3. Style the captions
Choose one of six presets, or set the size, position, colors, background, animation and words per line yourself. Correct any word in the transcript before you finish.
4. Download or post
FastClip makes an MP4 with the captions burned in. Download it for TikTok and YouTube Shorts, or post it to Instagram or X from FastClip.
If a YouTube link does not work
YouTube refuses many downloads from FastClip’s servers, so a pasted YouTube link can fail. If it does, upload the file instead. Uploads do not depend on YouTube.
What the free plan includes
Everything on this page works on the free plan, with no credit card:
- Limits: 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total, and up to 30 finished clips a day.
- Clips: up to five minutes long, as MP4 up to 1080p, with no watermark.
- Captions: word-timed, in the language spoken, which FastClip detects among 35 languages.
- Publishing: one direct post each to Instagram and X. For TikTok and YouTube you download the file.
- Not included: FastClip does not cut a batch of clips for you, gives no virality score and does not post to TikTok or YouTube.

What makes captions easy to read
From the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (captions, read October 14, 2026), WCAG 2.2 (contrast) and the BBC Subtitle Guidelines (read September 28, 2026):
- Burned-in captions are open captions. They are “always displayed” and cannot be turned off. Closed captions can be hidden or shown by the viewer. The look of burned-in captions is the same on every app.
- Automatic captions need a check. W3C says automatic captions meet users’ needs only if they are confirmed to be fully accurate. Read the transcript, and fix names and numbers.
- Short lines. The BBC’s guide is about 25 characters a line and up to three lines on vertical video.
- Contrast. WCAG asks for at least 4.5:1 between the text and its background, and 3:1 for large text.
In practice: use few words a line, a strong background or outline, and a position above the bottom third. More in the captions guide and in our caption templates.
Which moment to clip
Start with the moment a listener would repeat to a friend. Start on the first sentence of the thought and end where it lands. Our guides on hooks, finding moments and clip length go deeper, and podcast clipping covers what campaigns expect.
Questions
Is there a free podcast clip maker without a watermark?
Yes. FastClip is free with no credit card and no watermark: 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total.
Does it add captions automatically?
Yes. Captions come from automatic speech recognition and are timed word by word. You can correct each word before you finish the clip.
Which languages do the captions support?
Captions follow the language spoken in the clip, which FastClip detects among 35 languages. The app itself is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Indonesian, German, French and Russian.
Can I change the caption style?
Yes. Choose one of six presets, or set the size, position, colors, background, animation and words per line.
Does AI make the clips for me?
It suggests moments; you decide. For a YouTube episode FastClip first uses the “Most replayed” data. Otherwise AI picks moments from the transcript. FastClip does not cut a batch of clips for you.
Does it work for audio-only podcasts?
Yes. Upload the audio file in the app. FastClip makes a vertical video with an animated waveform and captions. Formats and limits are on the audiogram maker page.
What if my YouTube link does not import?
YouTube refuses many downloads from FastClip’s servers. Upload the episode file instead. Uploads do not depend on YouTube.
