WEBINAR TO SHORTS
Turn a webinar recording into short clips, free and without a watermark
Upload the recording or paste its link. Pick the insight or answer worth sharing. FastClip burns in captions and can crop to vertical 9:16 while following the speaker.
Free, no credit card, no watermark. Works in mobile and desktop browsers.
How to turn a webinar into short clips
1. Add the recording
Upload the recording file (up to 5 GB), or paste the YouTube link if you published the webinar there. FastClip keeps it in your library, so you can cut more clips from it later.
2. Find the moment
A webinar holds a few moments that work alone. Read the transcript for a question, a number or a clear claim. Select the exact words, or set the start and end on the timeline.
3. Choose the frame
If the speaker fills the frame, turn on the full-screen 9:16 crop. It can follow the speaker’s face. If the slide carries the point, turn the crop off. The clip then keeps the full landscape picture.
4. Caption it and publish
Word-timed captions are burned in, in the language spoken. Check names, numbers and product terms. Download the MP4, or post it to Instagram or X from FastClip.
If a YouTube link does not work
YouTube refuses many downloads from FastClip’s servers, so a pasted YouTube link can fail. If it does, upload the file instead. Uploads do not depend on YouTube.
What a vertical crop does to slides
A 9:16 window cut from a 16:9 frame keeps about 32% of the width (see the landscape to vertical guide). A slide loses its sides, and text near the edges disappears. FastClip does not place the speaker and the slide in two boxes of one frame. You can choose one of these:
- Crop to the speaker. Use it for the opening, the Q&A and any moment where the face carries the message.
- Keep the slide. Turn the crop off. The clip stays landscape and the whole slide stays readable. Make the captions short, so they do not hide the slide.
- Use Instagram’s card. When you post to Instagram with the crop off, FastClip places the full picture in a vertical card with your title.
Do not clip a slide that needs the audience to read small text. Pick the moment where the speaker says the point in words.
Which platforms take a landscape clip
From YouTube Help and the Instagram Help Center, read on October 14, 2026: upload Shorts and Reels resolution and size. From TikTok Creator Academy, read on October 2, 2026: Creator Rewards Program.
- YouTube Shorts need a square or vertical video. The limit is three minutes. A landscape clip is a normal YouTube video.
- Instagram accepts 16:9. A reel can have an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 9:16, and 16:9 is 1.78:1. It also needs at least 30 frames per second and at least 720 pixels. Reels over 3 minutes are not recommended to new audiences.
- TikTok accepts vertical and landscape videos. It asks for 1080p or higher for rewarded videos. FastClip exports up to 1080p.
In practice: for Shorts, crop to the speaker. For Instagram and TikTok, a landscape clip with big captions is a valid choice. Get the speakers’ permission before you post, and check that no attendee’s name or face is in the clip.
Which moments to use
The best webinar clips answer one question: what does the viewer learn in 30 seconds? Look for a counterintuitive claim, a number with its reason, or a live answer to a hard question. Our guides on hooks, finding moments and clip length go deeper, and vertical video specs lists the export settings.
Questions
Can FastClip show the speaker and the slides together?
No. FastClip does not place the speaker and the slide in separate boxes of one frame. Crop to the speaker, or turn the crop off to keep the whole picture.
Where do I get the recording?
From the tool that hosted the webinar, or from your YouTube channel if you published it there. Upload the file, or paste the YouTube link.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
FastClip is free with no credit card and no watermark: 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total.
Are the captions accurate?
Captions come from automatic speech recognition. Clear speech works best. Names, numbers and product terms can come out wrong, so check the preview before you finish the clip.
How long can a webinar clip be?
A FastClip clip can run up to five minutes. For YouTube Shorts and for Instagram recommendations, keep it within three minutes.
Does FastClip cut the webinar into clips by itself?
No. FastClip suggests moments, and you choose the exact cut. It does not make a batch of clips or score them.
What if my YouTube link does not import?
YouTube refuses many downloads from FastClip’s servers. Upload the recording instead. Uploads do not depend on YouTube.
