YOUTUBE VIDEO CUTTER
Cut a part out of a YouTube video, online and free
Paste a link, set the start and the end, download the MP4. No watermark, up to 1080p, and no waiting for the whole video to download.
Free, no credit card, no watermark. Works in mobile and desktop browsers.
How to cut a YouTube video
1. Paste the YouTube link
Any public video, stream replay or podcast episode. Nothing is installed and you do not download the video first.
2. Set the start and the end
Type the two times, drag them on the timeline, or select the words in the transcript. FastClip also suggests the parts viewers replay most. A cut can be up to five minutes long.
3. Make the clip
You do not wait for a long video to finish importing: FastClip fetches the part you chose first. A one-minute cut is usually ready in about a minute.
4. Download the MP4
The file keeps the source quality up to 1080p and 60 fps, with no watermark. Captions are optional, and you can also post the cut to Instagram or X from FastClip.
What you get, and what you do not
- A real file. An MP4 you can keep, edit and upload anywhere. YouTube’s own Clip button makes a 5 to 60 second loop that stays on YouTube and is shared as a link.
- Exact start and end. The cut starts and ends on the frames you chose, not on the nearest keyframe a few seconds away.
- Up to five minutes, up to 1080p. Longer cuts and 4K are outside what FastClip does.
- Video only. No MP3 or audio-only export.
- Optional extras. Burned-in captions in the language spoken, a vertical 9:16 crop that follows faces, and direct posting to Instagram Reels and X.
Trimming your own video on YouTube
If the video is on your channel and you want to change the video itself, YouTube Studio does it. From YouTube Help, checked on October 2, 2026: you can cut out the beginning, middle or end on a computer; you do not have to upload the video again; the URL, view count and comments stay the same; it works for videos shorter than six hours; and a saved edit cannot be reverted to the original. Open YouTube Studio, choose Content, open the video, choose Editor, then Trim & cut.
Use FastClip when you want a separate short file: a highlight for Shorts, TikTok or Reels, or a part of a video that is not on your channel. See YouTube to Shorts, YouTube to TikTok and YouTube to Reels for each platform’s rules.
Finding the part worth cutting
The YouTube Most Replayed tool shows the peaks of any video for free, with their timestamps. For the steps on a phone or with YouTube’s own tools, read how to clip a YouTube video; for the editor itself, see the YouTube clip maker.
Questions
Is this YouTube video cutter free?
Yes. FastClip is free with no credit card and no watermark: 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube imports in total.
Do I have to download the whole video to cut it?
No. Paste the link and choose the part. FastClip fetches that part ahead of the rest, so a one-minute cut from a two-hour video is usually ready in about a minute.
How long can the cut be?
Up to five minutes per clip. You can make as many clips from one video as your plan allows.
What quality is the downloaded clip?
An MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) at the source resolution up to 1080p, at the source frame rate up to 60 fps. FastClip does not export 4K.
Can I cut a YouTube video to MP3?
No. FastClip exports video with its audio as MP4. It does not export audio-only files.
How do I trim my own video that is already on YouTube?
Use YouTube Studio: open the video, choose Editor, then Trim & cut. YouTube says you do not have to upload the video again, and its URL, view count and comments stay the same. That changes the video on your channel; FastClip instead makes a separate short file from it.
Can I cut someone else’s video?
The tool works with any public video, but the rights do not change: clip what you own, what the owner allows (many creators run clipping programs), or what the law of your country permits. Our guide on clipping a video that is not yours explains the usual cases.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in the mobile browser. On a phone the editor opens on a suggested moment, and one tap makes the clip.
