AI AGENTS
Clip videos from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
Tell your AI agent which moment you want. It imports the video, finds the moment in the transcript and makes the clip in your FastClip account. You pick the moment. The agent is a pair of hands.
Say this to your agent
Clip the part where he explains how the pricing works from this video: (paste a YouTube link)
Free, no credit card, no watermark. FastClip connects to your agent through a hosted MCP server and a token you create.
How to connect your agent
1. Create a token
Sign in to FastClip, in the web app or in the iPhone app. Open Settings and choose Connect an agent. On the Agents page, name the token, for example Claude Code, and create it. Copy it at once. FastClip shows it only one time.
2. Connect your agent
Run the command for your agent from the next section. Use your token in place of
YOUR_TOKEN. For Cursor, add the lines to its settings file instead.3. Ask for a clip
Give the agent a link, or the name of a video in your library, and say what you want. The agent imports the video, searches the transcript, reads around the match to find where the thought starts and ends, and makes the clip.
4. Take the clip
The finished clip is in your FastClip account, like a clip you made by hand. Open it to edit the title and the post text, or download the MP4 from there. The agent also gets a download link and gives it to you.
Connect your agent
The server address is https://api.fastclip.it/mcp. Your agent sends your token with every request. Use your token in place of YOUR_TOKEN.
Claude Code
Run in a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user fastclip https://api.fastclip.it/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"Codex
Run in a terminal:
export FASTCLIP_TOKEN="YOUR_TOKEN"
codex mcp add fastclip --url https://api.fastclip.it/mcp --bearer-token-env-var FASTCLIP_TOKENCursor
Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"fastclip": {
"url": "https://api.fastclip.it/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
}
}
}
}Claude Code and Codex store the server in their own settings. Revoke the token in FastClip when you stop using an agent.
What your agent can do
The server gives an agent seven tools. All times are in seconds.
import_video- Adds a video from a link: YouTube, an X post with a video, a Twitch VOD or clip, or a Google Drive video shared with anyone who has the link. Asking again with the same link shows the progress. It never imports a video twice.
list_videos- Lists the videos in your account, newest first, with their import status. The agent uses it when you name a video and give no link.
get_transcript- Reads what is said in a video, or searches it for words. The agent reads from one time to another to find where a thought starts and ends.
get_moments- Returns what FastClip already knows about where to look: the uploader’s chapters, YouTube’s “Most replayed” peaks, your bookmarks, moments picked from the transcript and loud moments. These are places to look. They are not a prediction of how a clip will perform.
create_clip- Cuts the range you choose and renders the MP4. The agent sets the start and the end, the format (original or vertical 9:16), captions on or off, and an optional title.
get_clip- Shows if a clip is still rendering or finished. A finished clip has a download link and a link that opens it in FastClip.
list_clips- Lists the clips in your account, so the agent can check if a range is already clipped before it makes the clip again.
What the clip is
- Original or vertical. Original keeps the frame of the video. Vertical is 9:16 at 1080 × 1920 pixels, for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. In vertical, the frame follows faces when FastClip finds them. Otherwise it stays centered.
- Captions. Word-timed captions are burned into the picture in the style you set in Settings. The agent can turn them off.
- From 1 second to 5 minutes. The agent chooses the start and the end.
- No FastClip watermark. On the MP4, and on the free plan too.
- Finished in your account. You edit the title and the post text, and download the MP4, in FastClip.
What an agent cannot do, and the limits
- You choose the moment
- FastClip does not cut a batch of clips on its own and gives no scores. The agent makes the clips you ask for.
- Posting and settings
- A token cannot post, change your settings or delete anything. It works only on the MCP server.
- Search
- A keyword search, not a search by meaning. It finds passages where the speaker says the words you give, with one typo allowed in each word and the words close together (within about 45 seconds). Tell the agent words the speaker said.
- Transcripts
- The agent reads the transcript that FastClip has for a video. FastClip fetches the captions of a YouTube video. With no transcript, the agent uses chapters, bookmarks, “Most replayed” peaks or the times you give it.
- Files
- An agent cannot upload a file. Upload it in the app, and the agent sees it in your library.
- Clip length
- 1 second to 5 minutes.
- Requests
- 120 a minute for each token.
- New videos and clips
- 6 new videos and 20 clips in 10 minutes for your account. The agent gets a clear error with the time to wait.
- Your plan
- The clips and imports an agent makes count toward your plan, like your own. Each clip uses one draft clip and one finished clip. The free plan has 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total, and up to 30 finished clips a day.
- Tokens
- Up to 10 for each account. Revoke one in Settings, then Agents, and it stops working at once.
Two prompts to start
Find where they talk about hiring in my latest FastClip video and make a vertical clip with captions.
The agent searches the transcript for “hiring”, reads around the best match, and makes a 9:16 clip with captions.
Make a clip of the moment I bookmarked in my latest FastClip video and give me the link.
The agent reads your bookmarks for that video, clips around the one you saved, and gives you the link when the clip is finished.
No agent, or not yet?
Starting with a YouTube link and no agent? Use the YouTube clip maker. The AI clip generator page says what the AI inside FastClip does and does not do. Our guides on hooks and clip length help you choose the range to ask for.
Questions
How much does it cost?
Nothing extra. FastClip is free with no credit card and no watermark: 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total, and up to 30 finished clips a day. The clips and imports an agent makes count toward that plan. If the agent gives a clip no title, FastClip writes one from the AI writing allowance of your account ($5 a month on the free plan). Your agent has its own cost. It depends on the agent you use.
Is my token safe?
A token works only on FastClip’s MCP server. It cannot post, change your settings, open your billing or delete anything. Anyone who has it can still import videos and make clips that use your plan, until you revoke it. Treat it like a password: do not paste it into a chat or commit it to a repository. FastClip shows a token one time and stores only a hash of it. Make one token for each agent, so you can revoke one without the others.
Which agents work?
We tested Claude Code and Codex against FastClip’s server. The Cursor setup follows Cursor’s documented format for a remote server, and we have not run it yet. Another agent that can call a remote MCP server over HTTP with an Authorization header should work too. We have not tested others.
Can the agent post my clips?
No. A token cannot post. The agent makes the clip and gives you the link. Open it in FastClip to edit the text and post it from there, or download the MP4. Posting by agents is not offered.
Does it work with ChatGPT or Claude on the web?
Not yet. ChatGPT and Claude on the web connect to a server through a sign-in flow (OAuth) and cannot send a token in a header. FastClip has not built that sign-in flow, so they do not work with FastClip today.
Which formats and lengths can the agent make?
Original keeps the frame of the video. Vertical is 9:16 at 1080 × 1920, and the frame follows faces when FastClip finds them. Captions are on by default and the agent can turn them off. A clip is from 1 second to 5 minutes long.
What are the limits?
Each token can make 120 requests a minute. Your account can import 6 new videos and make 20 clips in 10 minutes. Your plan limits apply too. The free plan has 100 finished clips and 50 YouTube or upload imports in total, and up to 30 finished clips a day. When the agent reaches a limit, it gets an error that says which one.
Who can see my videos?
Only you. A token gives the agent your account’s videos and nothing from other accounts. The agent, and the company that runs its model, receive what the tools return: video titles, transcript text and links. Read the privacy terms of your agent. The download link of a clip opens for anyone who has the link, so give it only to people who should have the clip. FastClip handles your videos as in the app: see the privacy policy.
