In short

Any logged-in viewer can make a clip from a Kick livestream or VOD with the clip control in the player. A Kick clip is 10 to 180 seconds long, and you can download it. For a clip longer than three minutes, or one with captions and a vertical 9:16 frame for TikTok, Shorts or Reels, download the clip or the stream replay and cut it in a clip editor.

What a Kick clip is

Kick’s help center defines a clip as a short video of 10 to 180 seconds made from a Kick livestream or VOD. Any logged-in viewer watching the stream can make one, and so can the streamer.

RuleWhat Kick says

DownloadEvery clip can be downloaded when you view it.
How oftenOne clip, then a 60-second cooldown before the next.

Who can deleteOnly the channel owner. If a clip you made is gone, the streamer most likely deleted it.

Kick’s article has the steps with screenshots for making, publishing and downloading a clip; the buttons move between app versions, so follow the current article rather than a copy of it.

If the clip shows the wrong moment

Kick’s own answer: refresh the page or the app so that you are watching the most up-to-date stream, then make the clip again. A clip is cut from what the player has just shown, so a player that lags behind the live stream gives a clip that starts late.

VODs do not stay long

A clip can also be made from a VOD, the replay Kick saves when a stream ends. Kick keeps replays for a limited time:

  • Verified streamers: up to 30 days after the stream ends.
  • Other streamers: 7 days after the stream ends.
  • There is also a limit on how many replays a channel can hold at one time.

If the moment you want is in a replay, clip it or save it before the replay expires.

When a Kick clip is not enough

A Kick clip stops at three minutes, keeps the stream’s landscape frame and has no captions. For TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels you usually want a vertical 9:16 frame with burned-in captions, and sometimes a cut that is longer or starts at an exact word. Do it in two steps:

  1. Get a file. Download the Kick clip (every clip can be downloaded). For a longer part of your own stream, download the VOD: Kick’s help article on downloading a VOD names third-party tools and a manual method.
  2. Cut and caption it in a clip editor. FastClip does not import Kick links; upload the file instead (up to 5 GB), set the start and end, turn on the 9:16 crop that follows the face, and download the captioned clip (up to five minutes).

Twitch VODs and YouTube videos are different: FastClip imports those from a link.

Clipping Kick streams for money

Two different things are called this.

Clipping campaigns. A streamer or a brand pays clippers per view for short clips posted on TikTok, Shorts, Reels or X. The pay, the rules and the platform that runs the campaign differ from one campaign to the next; read the brief before you post. Our guides explain how campaigns work and how to avoid the scams around them.

Kick Bounties. Kick runs its own challenges at bounties.kick.com. Kick describes them as challenges that reward streamers, viewers and developers for completing set tasks; each bounty states who can take part, the rules and the reward. A bounty is not pay per view for clips.

Questions

How long can a Kick clip be?

From 10 to 180 seconds (3 minutes), on desktop and mobile, according to Kick’s help center.

Can I clip a Kick VOD?

Yes. Kick says clips can be made from VODs as well as from livestreams. Replays stay 7 days, or up to 30 days for verified streamers.

Can I download a Kick clip?

Yes. Kick says all clips can be downloaded when viewed.

Why can’t I make a clip on Kick?

Kick names two reasons: you are banned from the streamer’s chat, or you made a clip less than 60 seconds ago (there is a cooldown between clips).

Where did my Kick clip go?

Only the channel owner can delete clips. If a clip you made no longer exists, the streamer most likely deleted it.

How do I make a Kick clip vertical with captions?

Download the clip, upload the file to a clip editor such as FastClip, turn on the 9:16 crop and the captions, and download the result.

Does FastClip import Kick links?

No. Upload the downloaded clip or replay as a file (up to 5 GB). Twitch and YouTube links are imported directly.
